MANX WATER / SOURCES REVIEWED 10 OCTOBER 2026

Know your water.
Choose with a reason.

What the official sources tell us, what we still need to establish at your property, and where each planned option can help.

Preparing for launch. Explore the approach now; installation bookings and orders are not open yet.

THE LOCAL PICTURE

A useful baseline.
No invented readings.

PUBLIC SUPPLY

Treated and monitored.

The Government Laboratory describes routine chemical and microbiological analysis for Manx Utilities and independent public-supply sampling by the Government Analyst.

Government Laboratory: drinking-water quality ↗
CHLORINE

A treatment purpose.

Manx Utilities explains that tap water is treated with chemicals such as chlorine to make it safe for human consumption. A preference about chlorine-related taste is different from evidence that the supply is unsafe.

YOUR PROPERTY

Ask for local results.

We do not have a verified current supply-zone report or a sample from your tap. This page does not report today’s hardness, chlorine level, pH, PFAS or other contaminant concentrations.

From a public supply to your glass
  1. Source & treatment

The public supply is treated before distribution.

  2. Quality testing

The Government Laboratory describes chemical and microbiological monitoring.

  3. Property plumbing

Your incoming supply, pipes and outlet are part of the picture.

  4. Optional point-of-use treatment

A selected system treats the outlet it is connected to.

Concept diagram, not a detailed plan of Manx Utilities’ treatment works. A domestic filter does not replace public-supply monitoring.

MATCH THE CHANGE TO THE NEED

Different improvements.
Different options.

What each planned option can help improve
OptionPractical improvementWhat must be checkedLimit
PureChlorine-related taste/odour preference and convenient drinking water at the kitchen outlet.A cartridge with the relevant documented claim; suitable feed water; usable flow and capacity.Does not establish removal of lead, PFAS, microbes or dissolved minerals unless that exact claim is verified.
Pure PlusThe Pure brief, with a compatible tap arrangement and finish suited to the kitchen.Tap/filter compatibility, outlet separation, fitting scope and worktop suitability.A more expensive tap does not mean stronger filtration.
Pure ROLower dissolved-solids content and specific additional reductions where the chosen model is verified for them.Exact tested claims, feed conditions, reject-water ratio, service costs and any power/tank needs. Not automatically necessary for Manx mains water or for taste alone. Lower TDS is not proof of safety.
Specialist WaterA response to an identified private-supply or whole-property requirement.Suitable laboratory results and a competent site-specific design. No off-the-shelf tier can establish that a well or borehole is safe. Future service; not available to book.
Pure CareCorrect replacement parts, maintained flow and keeping within the system’s specified service schedule.Model/reference, service history, manufacturer intervals and agreed visit scope.Aftercare is not a stronger filtration tier. Plans and prices remain to be confirmed.

These are proposed service routes, not confirmed product specifications. Any performance claim must match the final system and its operating conditions. See NSF’s explanation of treatment standards and RO claim requirements.

HOW THE OPTIONS WORK

See the difference.

Pure & Pure Plus: a focused kitchen route
  1. Suitable feed water

Confirm the supply and intended use.

  2. Selected cartridge

Choose the exact documented reduction claim.

  3. Drinking-water outlet

Separate tap or a compatible integrated arrangement.

An appropriate carbon cartridge can reduce chlorine-related taste and odour. Capacity, flow and replacement intervals depend on the model. This is not a softening or universal disinfection process.

Pure RO: two water paths
  1. Feed water

Check pressure and any pre-treatment needs.

  2. Pre-filters & membrane

    A model-specific treatment sequence.

  3. Treated outlet

Drinking/cooking water; layout may include a tank.

  4. Reject water to drain

A separate stream carries rejected substances away.

Simplified concept: treated water and reject water are separate outputs, not consecutive stages. Tank, power needs, efficiency and service items vary by model.

Pure Care: keep the chosen system maintained
  1. Identify

Record model and exact replacement references.

  2. Replace

Follow the manufacturer’s time or capacity limits.

  3. Check & flush

Follow the correct hygiene and commissioning procedure.

  4. Record

Keep the change date and next manufacturer-defined due point.

Service intervals are model- and usage-dependent. A new cartridge does not upgrade a system beyond its specified capabilities.

BEFORE SELECTING EQUIPMENT

Measure what matters.

Hardness, scale and minerals

We have not verified a current local hardness value, so we do not use a hardness number to sell a softener. Ask for a dated result relevant to your supply. Ordinary taste-and-odour carbon filtration and water softening do different jobs.

Specific substances

Concerned about lead, nitrate or PFAS? Establish whether there is a relevant issue and check the exact product’s reduction claim. We are not claiming these are present at your property.

What a result should tell you

  • Where and when the sample was taken.
  • The measurement, unit and relevant interpretation.
  • Whether it concerns the supply zone or your own outlet.
  • Which exact treatment claim, if any, is appropriate.

A taste preference, a TDS meter reading and a full laboratory analysis are not interchangeable.

A sudden change needs investigation.

Unexpected discolouration, smell or a supply warning is a reason to contact the water supplier and follow its advice. Do not use an ordinary domestic filter as a substitute for an official safety instruction. Private supplies need their own assessment.
